Personal Hygiene
Here are 5 good handwashing tips for food handlers:
Use warm, running water and soap – Always start with clean, running water to effectively remove dirt and bacteria.
Scrub for at least 20 seconds – Don’t rush! Focus on all parts of your hands, including between fingers and under nails.
Wash after key activities – Always wash after using the restroom, handling raw foods, touching your face, or cleaning tasks.
Dry with a clean paper towel – Avoid air dryers or cloth towels in a food service setting to reduce contamination.
Turn off faucets with a paper towel – Prevent re-contaminating your clean hands by using a towel to shut off water.
